Liquorice powder, or licorice powder is a delicious spice used in both sweet and savoury dishes. It's made from ground liquorice roots, the roots of Glycyrrhiza glabra.

Thanks to its intense aniseed flavours and a natural sweetness, liquorice powder is often found in Chinese Five Spice mixes, as well as Indian dishes – where it’s better known as jethimadh powder – and is often stirred into curries to enhance star anise, and fennel-like flavours.
